Introduction on Food Export Requirements to the U.S.

AmCham-Jordan hosted Mr. Robert Hibbert, Food Law Expert to two consecutive technical workshops titled: “Introduction on Food Export Requirements to the U.S.” to discuss the requirements of food exports under the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Currently, meat, dairy and other food products (frozen or processed) may encounter barriers to entry to the U.S. market owing to weaknesses in the national food safety system, including traceability concerns. During the sessions, Mr. Hibbert presented the position papers on requirements to access the U.S. market, focusing on meat and dairy products.

After understanding the requirements with which Jordanian exporters need to comply in order to meet the U.S. requirements, Mr. Hibbert will share with AmCham-Jordan’s technical committee, export-ready Jordanian food companies (focusing on the meat and dairy products), and other stakeholders, his recommendations to achieve export compliance.
