Virtual Roundtable: “The Role of Trade Financing in Supporting and Enhancing Jordan’s Exports and Imports during the COVID-19 Crisis.”

AmCham–Jordan conducted its sixth virtual roundtable on “The Role of Trade Financing in Supporting and Enhancing Jordan’s Exports and Imports during the COVID-19 crisis,” with leaders from the Jordanian banking and financial sectors next to representatives from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), to discuss the interrelated issues of trade financing and access to financing opportunities.

The session aimed at discussing measures taken by the government represented by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) to mitigate the risks on the economy resulting from the global health crisis. The private sector bank representatives gave insights on the role of banks in Jordan in addressing the crisis through working collaboratively with the CBJ to support their clients in dealing with cash flow challenges and collectively agreeing on the ways forward. Furthermore, representatives from the IFC and U.S. DFC shared information on ongoing programs available either to the Banking institutions or directly to the private sector in Jordan.
